Cartridge filters are ideal for filtrations projects when target discharge limits for Total Suspended Solids (TSS) are very strict. Cartridge filters are used as the finals stage in filtration systems that involve carbon or other liquid phase filter medias. Cartridge filters are more efficient than bag filters, especially at lower flow rates, because a cartridge uses its depth to capture particulate, whereas a filter bag uses its surface area to capture particulate. It is not uncommon for carbon fines laden with contaminants to migrate downstream within a filtration system. This poses a problem for filtration projects with strict discharge limitations.
