With the price of copper climbing, thieves began disassembling an old transformer that was sitting at the Armory awaiting proper disposal. But the transformer was filled with PCB oil.
As they began ripping the transformer apart, a large amount of PCB-contaminated oil spilled out at the site which was near the Olentangy River, making local news headlines. An Environmental Remediation company was summoned to respond to the spill. They called E-Tank to provide solids containment for the contaminated soil and groundwater.
