A construction company was contracted by a municipality to repair and update the structural integrity of
a bridge.
The project required an uninterrupted flow of clean process water to hydro demolition machines. The
machines were needed to jet the water at high pressure to descale and remove faulty concrete from the
bridge structure. A stream, located beneath the bridge structure, served as the process water source.
This project presented three major challenges:
The construction company engaged E-Pump to deploy a process water supply system capable of overcoming the project challenges. E-Pump designed, delivered and installed a system that supplied 800 gpm of clean process water. The system featured a 4” high-pressure pump, automatic self-cleaning
screen filter, custom outfitted manifold system and 1,500’ of hose. The high-pressure pump was sized to
overcome high head pressures and supply the required flow rate. The automatic self-cleaning screen
filter provided an uninterrupted flow of clean water without need of an operator. This filter removed
debris from the stream water and periodically deposited the debris into a highly vegetated area near the
stream bed.
Once again, E-Pump’s project design specialists and service crew worked together with the contractor to
deliver a process water supply system to meet stringent demands and project deadlines.
